The Flowery Gateway

Inspired by Mughal architecture from 16-18 centuries. These large vaulted gateways were one of the important features of this architecture. I wanted to recreate these doors on canvas, giving them a third dimension using gesso. Then I overlayed different colours and used sand paper to give the rustic effect. 
The solid wood mahogany frame enhances the aesthetics of this painting.
